Jamyang Dorjee Joins Global Peace Prayer in Bhutan, Honoring Nalanda Tradition
Thimphu, Bhutan – Renowned Tibetan calligrapher and cultural advocate Jamyang Dorjee Chakrishar recently participated in the Global Peace Prayer – Monlam Chenmo, held in the sacred Vajrayana Buddhist kingdom of Drukyul (Bhutan).
The event brought together 115 spiritual masters from across the Mahayana Buddhist world, all deeply rooted in the Nalanda tradition. Representing the five major Tibetan schools—including the rarely seen Jonang lineage—the gathering also welcomed monks and scholars from Theravada traditions hailing from Thailand, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Cambodia, and China.
Hosted under the auspices of the Royal Government of Bhutan, the Monlam Chenmo was not only a spiritual convergence but also an intellectual one. International scholars and thought leaders joined in, amplifying the event’s spirit of intersecting wisdom, peace, and unity.
Expressing heartfelt appreciation, Jamyang Dorjee said:
“I am grateful to Drukyul for inviting me and my group. Such a well-organised mass prayer!”
Held in the land known for its living embodiment of Vajrayana Buddhism, the prayer ceremony symbolized a shared hope for global harmony. For Jamyang Dorjee, whose artistic journey is deeply tied to Tibetan spiritual expression, this gathering was not only a blessing—but also a profound continuation of his mission to bridge tradition and global peace through sacred art and presence.
